Pokemon Diamond is a main series Pokémon game released for the Nintendo DS handheld system. Along with its counterpart, “Pokémon Pearl”, it was first released in Japan in 2006 and later in other regions in 2007. These games are set in the Sinnoh region and introduced several new features to the Pokémon series.

Here are some key features and points about “Pokémon Diamond”:

  • Sinnoh Region: “Pokémon Diamond” takes place in the Sinnoh region, which is based on the Hokkaido region of Japan. Players can explore various towns, cities, and other locations throughout this region.
  • New Pokémon: Like every new main series game, “Pokémon Diamond” introduced a host of new Pokémon to capture, train, and battle with.
  • Pokétch: The Pokémon Watch (or Pokétch for short) was introduced in these games. It’s an in-game device on the player’s touchscreen that provides various apps, including a clock, calculator, and step counter.
  • Team Galactic: The main antagonistic team of the games is Team Galactic. They aim to reshape the universe in their vision using the power of the legendary Pokémon of the Sinnoh region.
  • Legendary Pokémon: The cover legendary for “Pokémon Diamond” is Dialga, the Temporal Pokémon. Dialga has control over time.
  • Pal Park: This feature allowed players to transfer Pokémon from the Game Boy Advance Pokémon games to their “Diamond” or “Pearl” game.
  • GTS (Global Trade System): Introduced in these games, the GTS allowed players worldwide to trade Pokémon with each other.
  • Battle Zone: Located in the north of Sinnoh, the Battle Zone is an area with a number of facilities dedicated to Pokémon battles, including the Battle Tower.
  • Underground: This was a unique multiplayer feature where players could dig for fossils and other treasures. It was a fully realized subterranean world beneath Sinnoh where players could also set up secret bases.

In 2021, remakes of these games titled “Pokémon Brilliant Diamond” and “Pokémon Shining Pearl” were released for the Nintendo Switch. The remakes brought updated graphics, quality of life improvements, and some new features while staying faithful to the original DS titles.
